QuickBooks or Xero? Why We’re Giving You the Power to Choose

QuickBooks or Xero? Why We’re Giving You the Power to Choose

When I started Any Other Business, my mission was simple: to take the “boring” out of your bookkeeping so you can focus on your craft. For a long time, QuickBooks was our primary tool for making that happen. It’s intuitive, powerful, and excellent for many of the sole traders and SMEs I work with.

But as the UK business landscape evolves, I’ve realised that “one size fits all” doesn’t apply to accounting software.

That’s why I’m thrilled to announce that Any Other Business is now a Certified Xero Partner. Whether you’re team QuickBooks or team Xero, I’m here to support you with AAT-qualified expertise on the platform that fits your workflow.

The “Big Two”: A Quick Comparison

Both platforms are market leaders for a reason. They both handle MTD-compliant VAT returns, link directly to your bank feeds, and offer great mobile apps. However, they each have their own “personality”:

  • QuickBooks: Often the go-to for sole traders and those who love a visual, dashboard-led experience. Its mileage tracking is second-to-none, and it’s incredibly efficient for construction businesses handling CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) returns.
  • Xero: Favoured by growing agencies and service-based businesses. It’s famous for its vast “app ecosystem”—meaning if you use specific tools for inventory, reporting, or scheduling, Xero likely links to them seamlessly. Plus, it allows for unlimited users, making collaboration a breeze as your team grows.

Why I’ve Added Xero to the Portfolio

As an AAT Qualified Bookkeeper, my job isn’t just to “do the books” — it’s to ensure you have the best setup for your specific goals.

With Xero’s recent updates, including enhanced AI-driven cash flow insights and their new “Ignite” and “Grow” plan structures, it’s become a powerhouse for businesses that want a more granular look at their data. By offering both, I can provide unbiased advice. If Xero’s reporting is what you need to scale, we’ll use Xero. If QuickBooks’ simplicity saves you more time, we’ll stick with QuickBooks.

What This Means for You

  1. Freedom of Choice: If you’re already on Xero, you no longer have to switch to work with me. I can jump straight into your existing setup and start tidying things up.
  2. Expert Migration: Thinking of moving from one to the other? I can manage the data transfer between platforms so you don’t lose a single penny of your transaction history.
  3. Tailored Onboarding: We’ll look at your industry—be it creative, construction, or retail—and pick the software that has the best integrations for your specific day-to-day tasks.

The Bottom Line

Software should be the engine under the hood of your business—it should run smoothly, reliably, and without you having to worry about how it works. By supporting both QuickBooks and Xero, I’m ensuring that no matter how your business grows, Any Other Business has the tools to grow with you.
