More Than Numbers: Building Businesses, Supporting Communities and Thriving with Cystic Fibrosis

When people think of bookkeeping, they often think of spreadsheets, invoices and tax returns. For me, however, business has always been about something much bigger: helping people, solving problems and proving that challenges do not have to define your future.
My name is Peter Trengove, and I am proud to be the founder of Any Other Business, an Anglesey-based bookkeeping and business support service dedicated to helping sole traders, start-ups and small businesses gain confidence in their finances. What many people do not see is the journey that led me here, a journey shaped by determination, resilience and a lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis.
Living with Cystic Fibrosis has meant facing challenges that most people never have to consider. Hospital visits, treatments and daily health management have been a constant part of life. Yet I made a decision early on that while Cystic Fibrosis would be part of my story, it would never be the whole story.
That mindset has driven everything I have achieved professionally. Through Any Other Business, I have had the privilege of supporting businesses across the UK, helping owners understand their finances, improve their processes and focus on growth. There is no greater reward than knowing that my work helps reduce stress and gives business owners the confidence to pursue their ambitions.
My passion for helping others extends beyond bookkeeping. I created and manage Brynteg Cottage, a website celebrating life in North Wales and sharing stories about the local community, and MyCam Studio, a resource dedicated to technology, digital content creation and practical guidance. Both projects reflect my belief that knowledge should be shared and that communities grow stronger when people support one another.
I have always believed that success is measured not only by personal achievements but by the positive impact we have on others. Whether helping a new entrepreneur launch their business, sharing useful information online, or simply offering support when someone needs it, I am motivated by making a difference.
That is why being nominated for Accounting Firm of the Year, Consultant of the Year, Corporate Finance Director of the Year, Finance Director of the Year, and Finance Leader of the Year at the North Wales Awards means so much to me. While these nominations are a tremendous honour, they also represent the trust clients, colleagues, friends and supporters have placed in me throughout my journey.
Looking back, my proudest achievement is not any award nomination, business milestone or website launch. It is proving that a long-term health condition does not have to limit your aspirations. Every challenge overcome, every client helped and every goal achieved stands as a reminder that perseverance can accomplish remarkable things.
As I continue my journey, my goal remains the same: to support others, contribute to my community and demonstrate that with determination, resilience and a willingness to keep moving forward, anything is possible.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of that journey so far. Your support, encouragement and trust have made all of this possible. Together, we show that success is about far more than numbers. It is about people.
